Terms of Service

Silkra is a local-first desktop application for website crawling, technical SEO auditing, and AI-powered analysis. The Service includes both free and paid tiers, each with different feature sets and usage limits as described on our pricing page.

Subject to these Terms and your plan limits, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and run the Silkra desktop application on devices you own or control, for your internal business or personal use. The software is licensed, not sold, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved by SearchMoat LLC.

The application includes third-party open-source components that are licensed under their own terms. A complete list of these components and their license texts is distributed with the application (THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES).

Some features require an account. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• All activity that occurs under your account.
• Notifying us immediately at support@usesilkra.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annual) as selected at checkout. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method on each renewal date. Billing is processed by SearchMoat LLC.

• Free tier - available indefinitely with no payment required. Feature set may change over time.
• Upgrades & downgrades - take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
• Cancellation - you may cancel at any time from your account settings. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds - we offer a 14-day refund policy from the date of initial purchase. Contact support@usesilkra.com for requests.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
• Resell, sublicence, or redistribute access to the Service without written permission.
• Use the Service to scrape or crawl websites in violation of their terms of service or robots.txt directives.
• We reserve the right to suspend access for violations of this section.

Silkra is a tool that crawls websites you direct it to. You, not Silkra, choose the crawl targets and configuration, and you are solely responsible for how you use the crawler. In particular, you agree that:

• You will only crawl websites that you own, operate, or are otherwise authorised to crawl, and you are responsible for complying with each target site's terms of service and applicable laws.
• Silkra respects robots.txt directives by default. If you disable that setting or override crawl-politeness defaults (request delay, concurrency, user-agent), you do so at your own risk and remain responsible for the consequences.
• You are responsible for the load your crawls place on third-party infrastructure. Do not use the Service to overwhelm, disrupt, or deny service to any website.
• You will not configure the crawler's user-agent to impersonate another party in a misleading or unlawful manner.
• We may suspend or terminate access if the Service is used for abusive, unlawful, or disruptive crawling.

The Service includes AI-powered analysis features. When you use them, your prompts and relevant crawl content are transmitted to third-party AI model providers through our infrastructure in order to generate responses, as described in our Privacy Policy.

AI-generated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. It is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute professional advice. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI output before relying on it or acting on it.

AI usage is subject to the limits of your plan. We may apply fair-use safeguards to protect the Service from abuse.

If you enable cloud sync, crawl-derived data is uploaded to and stored in your organisation's cloud workspace so that features you choose to use (such as connecting external AI tools via MCP) can access it. You retain ownership of synced data; we host and process it solely to provide these features. Synced data is deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.

Optional integrations (such as Google Search Console and Google Drive) are subject to the third-party provider's own terms. You may disconnect an integration at any time from within the app.

The Service, including its design, code, branding, and documentation, is owned by Silkra and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or brand assets.

You retain full ownership of any data you generate using the Service. We claim no rights over your crawl data, reports, or exports.

Silkra is local-first - crawl data is processed and stored on your device. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. You use the Service at your own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Silkra and its officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Silkra and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date and notify you via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
